Operation Sexy Bitch burns almost 5000 calories and goes to a BBQ- Day 30!! August 30th, 2009
…My heartrate monitor gave me my week totals for WEEK 4!! You ready for this??
Operation Sexy Bitch- Day 29, August 29th, 2009
Any Saturday that I’m at work is a slightly off day for me. Something about not setting an alarm, but still going to work whenever I get up, just throws me off totally! Today was worse than normal, I think. I slept way later than I normally do (thank you eye patch thing), and got up at 10:30! Piddled around a bit and ate some breakfast and then went into the office. I was so hungry by the time I got here, because I hadn’t eaten much breakfast, but I assumed I’d be able to find something in the kitchen. Alas, there was nothing I could throw together quickly, and calorically efficient (cheese quesadillas are always an option), so I grabbed a slice of cold pizza and just went with it.
By the time I left work, it was late in the afternoon, and it was really closer to dinner, but I felt I needed something to eat so I grabbed a Jamba Juice and headed towards home to finish my errands for the day.
Dyed my hair (and I’m not in love with it- why didn’t I remember box highlights suck??), and munched a bit, and then headed out to meet a few friends at the restaurant/bar down the street. Here’s what was cool about my ‘off’ schedule for the day- I had room for drinks! I had made my calories for the day in food, but because I was totally off and ended up eating smaller snacks, I had the rest of my calorie range for booze. HA HA! Nice. Note to self: Do NOT buy cheap vodka anymore. I only had a few drinks, but my head was KILLING ME the next day! Not cool. Not cool at all!!
Exciting day, I know. So let’s get on with the GOALS!
Vitamins: All of them.
Water: 10 glasses. I was terrible!
Alcohol: 4 vodka sodas
Workout: Off today
Sleep: I swear I think I got 10 hours, but I really didn’t quite notice when I went to sleep. It was at least 9 though!!

Well now on to Sunday… Day 30! WOW!

Operation Sexy Bitch- The last OFFICIAL workout! Or is it? August 28th, 2009
….The fact that my knee feels so absolutely much better is helping!! My ‘high knees’ cardio burst is so much easier in 30 Day Shred, I can hardly believe it! I’m scared it will revert back to hurting, stick it’s tongue out at me, and say ‘Nanny nanny boo boo!’ So far so good though! Yay knee!
OSB’s knee LIVES!! What the heck? Day 27, August 27th, 2009
…Wake up, and SERIOUSLY contemplate resetting my alarm and skipping the workout today. I think I have those few minutes between sleeping and half awake where my subconscious tries to sabbotage me, and for some reason (and I think I know what that reason is, thank you PMS), I’m having a harder time fighting my way out of bed. I’m still getting there though, just maybe 5 or 10 minutes later than normal.
Once I wake up enough to realize how much better I’m going to feel whem I’m done, it’s not really a problem to get up and get moving. Today, I’m laying in bed, and can already feel my knee. It’s just a bruised feeling, but I can feel it. Or maybe that’s another mind trick.
OSB hits an AWESOME SPIN CLASS! Day 26, August 26th, 2009
I CANNOT BELIEVE I am almost done with my 30 Day Challenge!! Randi was asking me last night if I’ve thought about what I’m going to do with all this when it’s over. I don’t have a clue, but I do know that I’m liking this, so I think I might extend OSB to a 60 day challenge! Or perhaps I’ll work on OSB Balance, and try to find the happy balance between working out, eating right, and getting out with my friends. Something I’ve been lacking in this 30 Day Challenge. Food for thought…
I woke up in a pretty great mood this morning. Got my 30 Day Shred and Austin Abs out of the way and headed out to start my day. My parents had gotten into a fight the night before, and when I was packing up food to leave, my mom wanted my take on the situation. Let’s just say that it took me to a not very happy place, and I was in a pretty bummed mood from that point on. I absolutely wanted to ditch spin class, and any other workouts. I just wanted to go home, curl up, and maybe even cry. Ladies, you will understand this, but another factor here is that I am having those emotional few days a month… You with me? I’d speak more plainly, but I’d hate to gross the guys out! LOL Combine all the factors and it’s a miracle I made it to spin class. I grabbed a bike up front to try and force myself to get the most out of the time, and I KNEW when I left, I’d feel so much better about having actually GONE. There was a new spin instructor there, well new to me- he’d been out awhile- and I had heard he was great. The music started, the warm up began, and off we went. I wasn’t thrilled about the experience, but I kept looking at the clock saying that in an hour, this will all be over and I’ll be done for the day and a happy camper! This instructor, Ben, does not allow for rest time. The songs melt into eachother and he keeps you going. If he thinks you are slacking, he will call you out. His music was loud, and the lack of time between songs actually tricked my mind into forgetting how long I’d been spinning a few times, so by the time about 25 minutes had elapsed, I was so grossly sweaty, and happy to be there. FINALLY. I ended up burning over 700 calories and was so absolutely glad I’d pushed through my mood to make it there!
I was exhausted by the time I worked late and got home though, so eating what I had planned to eat for dinner just wasn’t in the cards. It takes me awhile to eat, and I was too dang tired. So I ate and logged what I could get down, and then I went to bed. This means I didn’t make my calorie intake goal for the day, but I have to tell you, there was just no getting anymore food in me!!
Overall, a crappy day turned into a good one, turned into an exhausting one. Regardless, I got through my workouts and did what I needed to do today. So I put that one in the win column!!
On to my GOALS!!
Vitamins: All of them.
Water: 15 glasses.
Alcohol: 1 glass of wine,
Workout: 132 minutes for 1068 calories! Pretty nice! Ok, SUPER NICE!
Sleep:7 hours, so hard to get to that 8 by the time I get home and eat…

As of bed time, I hadn’t even added the sugar free chocolate to my day, but when I saw how few calories I had taken in, I decided to add them. Wine and chocolate right before bed. Could it GET any more pampered than that? LOL
See you all tomorrow!

OSB- WEEK THREE MEASUREMENTS ARE IN! Tuesday, August 25th, 2009
…This morning started out like most of them… 30 Day Shred and Denise Austin Abs. HOWEVER. I think I had an extra spring in my step from my exciting 2 pound loss, to hurry through the workout and get my measurements done! I ended up burning 391 calories just in my morning workout, which is absolutely unprecedented in Operation Sexy Bitch! I was quite the excited girl though!!
Operation Sexy Bitch, Day 24! The Scale finally moves!!
….Woke up all excited to work out this morning. Now let me explain morning excitement to you. I got up after only hitting snooze twice, instead of three times!
I was excited- once I was up – to start Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred Level 2 though! I figured I was rested from the weekend off, and it was time to give it a go! And boy did I! WOW! I added my normal 10 minute Denise Austin ab routine to the end and was shocked to have burned 376 calories! I should make sure to explain that I let my heart rate monitor continue to count calories burned until my heart rate gets to 100 bpm. That is my cool down and stretch time, and if I’m still sweating, I’m still working out!
If you get a heart rate monitor and don’t see the same numbers, this could be one of the reasons. I probably have another 10 – 15 minutes that I let my monitor run that you may not be.
Operation Sexy Bitch – WEEK 4 BEGINS!!! Sunday, August 23rd, 2009
…Sunday is a day for rest, right? Right. And today, I really just wanted to lay around and be LAZY! Working on Saturdays is great for playing catch up, but it really makes your one full day off matter! I headed to my friend’s house- even though I really wanted to not get dressed at all- so we could catch up for a bit, and grab some lunch. We decided on Genghis Grill, which honestly is healthy, but can sneak up on you depending on your choices (sauce and peanuts, steak and fried rice- see what I’m saying?). I pretty much knew what to get, but normally I’d throw on some peanuts and mix in a little steak with the Red Curry Peanut sauce, and this go ’round, I decided to save myself around 400 calories!! OMG! IIIIIIIiiiii KNOW!!
OSB has a new addiction… Smoothies! Day 22, August 22, 2009
Let me just share that Jamba Juice is DA BOMB! I am in love with their Mango Mantra Light smoothie with Soy Protien! 200 calories for the small one, and that’s all I need, though maybe not all I want! HA HA! Next time my friends are chilling at Gloria’s having Mango Margaritas, I think I’ll grab a JJ and meet them there!

OSB notices a pattern in spin class – Day 21, Friday August 21, 2009
My word today was TOUGH!
It was rainy and gray and my dog and I just DID NOT WANT to get out of bed! I forced myself to slowly make it happen though, because I know how much better I feel after I get that morning workout in. I’m just saying that it wasn’t easy. I had to look at myself in the mirror and just make it happen.
Maybe it was the day, or maybe I was just so sore from the lifting class the day before, but as much as I wanted to go to spin class at lunch (and by want to, remember it’s rainy still, so I’m mostly just wanting to get it over with! LOL), as soon as I got there, when normally I’d have gotten over my reluctance, I was still tired and not in the mood. Not in a bad mood, just not wanting to be there. I knew I’d burn a bunch of calories though, and I knew overall I needed to not give into my mood, so I started spinning. You have to get there early on weekdays at lunch to get a bike, so I had about 15 minutes to spin on my own before the class started. I tried to get into it. But it was hot and my legs felt heavy. I wondered what I had eaten the day before, and if something I’d eaten might be making me lethargic, but I couldn’t really think of anything that out of the ordinary. I finally decided that I was just tired from the week, and the rain, and sore from the day before. Regardless though, I wouldn’t say my ‘free spin’ time was the best use of that time, I kept it pretty slow and steady, but I guess it was better than doing nothing those 15 minutes. Then class started and the instructor was so BIZARRE. He’s probably a lot like I am, actually, but it was weird to see a 40 plus year old man who literally dropped his jeans and slipped into his spin shoes when he walked into class dancing around to the music while we stretched. And then waving his arms to the music when we were warming up. I’d probably have done that. I guess there is just something different about a chick behaving like that versus a dude. It was weird, but it did make me smile some. Mostly at him, not with him, but also at myself because that’s probably what I look like to some people at times!
Something I’m noticing about spin classes at 24 hour- and I haven’t been to all that many yet, say 5 different instructors, but enough to have noticed this pattern- the instructors at 24 are old school. They play old school music, are older people, they don’t pump the music up so loud you can’t hear your body complaining… They are just basically not that fun. The classes at LA Fitness seemed to play more current music, sometimes stuff I hadn’t even heard, and that kept my brain on the music and the beat, and not on how much work I was doing. I’m not blaming it all on them, by ANY MEANS. I can work hard it I want to, and I’m just not working as hard in these classes. And it shows. I normally burn over 700 calories in a spin class and now I’m averaging under 500. That’s HUGE! And I hate that. I’m just not sure how to get past it right now. My body is tired from all the work I’m doing, I guess, and I’m just not as motivated to push myself when the music doesn’t do it for me. I’m going to have to work out that though, because I don’t see it changing… I did really do well on the Thursday afternoon spin class over by my work, so maybe I just need to hit that one as often as I can…
Another thing about spin, and motivation, is the availability of mirrors. When I’m pushing so hard, or trying to get to the load I want to spin at, I use the mirrors to look myself in the eye and push it. I can focus on a good or bad part of my body and tell myself this is how I got this, or how I’m going to get rid of that. And it works. At the 24 hour in Richardson by my house, there are no mirrors. This does not help me. At the one in Dallas by my work, the room is large and you have to sit right up front to get the mirrors and I just haven’t quite gathered the courage to sit there yet. If I can’t conquer the music motivation though, I’m going to have to start sitting up front. It’s the only other way I know to get the most out of my 45 minute (Another reason I may not be burning as many calories- they shortened the class) to an hour spin time. Hmmm… I’m just sharing all of this in case you are trying spin for the first time and aren’t motivated to return. There are some things that, for me, were key to my success and loving spin, and if you aren’t lucky enough to have those things, it might not be your thing. Only it might be, and you just haven’t experienced it well enough yet to realize it…
Enough about spinning. It’s making me want to go to the gym now and there are no more spin classes today, and I think I need the day off. So let’s focus on my GOALS!
Vitamins: All of them!
Water: 15 glasses.
Alcohol: 1 glass of wine (I actually didn’t finish it- fell asleep before I could. But I do enjoy a glass of wine at night, it seems to help me relax and sleep better)
Workout: 113 minutes total for 754 calories burned!!
Sleep: 7 hours. Maybe? I think I may have to take this category out. My nights run together most of the time and I am having a hard time keeping track. Plus sleeping isn’t nearly the problem it was now that I’m working out so much.

Did you guys notice I got my smoothie???!!! It was YUMMY!! I don’t need to spend money on one every day, but sadly, I’m already wanting one today… We’ll see…
What a week… I’m so grateful for the weekend. It’s a little sad though that my body is so tired, but all this typing about spin has my mind trying to convince my body it can handle some more workout time… Maybe I’ll go home and get some 30 Day Shred in… Maybe I’ll move up to Level 2… Maybe. Tune in tomorrow to see.
